13th Anniversary Golden Barleywine Ale is a celebration of Fremont Brewing’s Golden Birthday and 13th Anniversary. This blend is a ~new~ golden barleywine recipe that was inspired by our recipe of Aurelius. We blended a small component of aged barleywine, which accentuated the subtle flavors of vanilla, maple, honey, oak, and leather from aging in 8-13-year-old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. Each sip is more special than its last.

Thank you all for being a part of this journey of experimenting, pushing the limits with new recipes, and supporting our passions for our barrel-aged program. Cheers to 13 years and many more!

Bottle, got some samples, thanks Iznogud, thanks kajser, thanks Miro Š.! Dark golden body, off-white head. Vanilla in the aroma, dried fruit, caramel, but weird light yeasty touches too. Similar taste - vanilla and dried fruit dominate, caramel, alcohol and that yeast touch again, weird. Lovely apart from the yeast.

Bottle. Color: Clear orange copper, very thin beige head. Aroma: Raisins, caramel, vanilla, Bourbon. Taste: Ver well balanced mix of raisins, caramel fudge, vanilla, Bourbon and some oak wood. Boozy, warming mouthfeel. Full body, below average carbonation. Over medium sweet, moderate to over moderate bitterness. Very nice.

Bottle - mostly clear light amber - nose of caramelized sugars, treacle, oak, bourbon, vanilla, some bright fruitiness - I really appreciate it when American brewers go for a more British-style barleywine - super smoothed out by the oak, rich in bourbon character, with a little spicy alcohol - some underlying cherry flavors - vanilla - caramelized sugars - warming, earthy finish - great cold-weather sipper (it is currently -10 here right now and I am drinking this by the fire, which is really the only appropriate way to consume this beverage).

Pours a nice clear dark amber from a bottle, head quickly subsides until it almost looks still. On the nose it's clearly a barleywine and it's clearly BA. Lots of vanilla, oak, caramel and a hint of molasses. Fresh, there is an acidic brightness to it along with the almost treacly sweetness, like a sticky bun. If you've got more than one I would say age it as long as you can, it will probably benefit. Good beer.

Hollingshead draught, 12/9/22. Clear golden raisin. Small, white head to ring. Fruity as shit in the nose but with that lovely bourbon barrel mildness adding spice and well aged liquor. The beer itself seems to add some very sweet, estery stuff, not sure what. But it comes off as a BA barley wine with candy and sugar. Unfortunately, it's given more to this sugar than the bourbon in flavor. Solid texture with good malt but just too much of this weird smartees flavor tacked on to the delicious barley wine and bourbon.

5oz pour @BeerZombies Vegas. Clear, dark amber, still. Smells like a mix of black tea & amaretto sour. Bittersweet pith, breakfast cereal marshmallows, sweet onion, tea tannins, old toast, hidden acidity. Good. Expected better.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear amber / mahogany with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of caramel, bourbon, vanilla, and oak -- very rich and complex. Flavour is rich, with lots of bourbon, vanilla, and rich toffee. Rich, bourbon-y, vanilla-y, and oaky. Wonderful stuff.

22oz bottle pours out deep amber topped with a small sand head. Nose is nice sweet caramel toffee notes and some nice barrel. Taste is more of the nice sweet malts caramel barrel vanilla.

Bomber at share. Ruddy brown pour with a small bubbly head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, vanilla, bourbon. Taste matches the aroma with a soft, luscious feel and lingering boozy notes.
