I was kind of sceptical to this. It has a strength that allows it to be sold in general stores, but the stated beer type is one that that in Norway have been stronger, typically around 6.5% - so from the start I had the impression that they were trying to adapt the beer to fit a wider set of distribution channels. The beer was ok, but did not shine through in quality. The sweeter and stronger beer type that they aim at - a dark bock beer - does not survive well being translated downwards in strength. However, they've managed to do a fairly good job with it. It pours dark reddish mahagny with shortlived head in the glass. Completely clear. Aroma of dark malts and some hops. Drinking it is dominated by sweetness, and although it is not cloyingly sweet, it is enough to distract from the darker malt tones that could have given this beer a balance and complexity. Short aftertaste. (Review of the 2023 edition, BB=02.10.2028 - yes, that is 5 years.)

330ml can, #345, bought at Rema 1000 Pyramiden. Black in the glass, clingy lacing, off-white head. Moderate smell of chocolate malts, lightly roasted. Quite tasty with soft dark malts, earth and nuts. Smooth, drying malt-driven close. Medium bodied. Pretty fair. (Tromsø, 16.12.2023).

Can @ home. Close to black body under a fine beige head. A bit weak, malty aroma. Taste is sweet, dark, roasted malt, dry fruit and rye bread. When it heats up a bit in the glass it seems to be some smoked malt here as well. Medium body and sweet malty aftertaste with hint of smoke. Drinkable, but not much complexity here, close to ‘’vørterøl’’ (non-fermented wort beer)

Can. A clear looking dark brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head. Quite sugary, almost wort-like aroma with nuts, dark chocolate, stale coffee and bread crust. Some dark dried fruits. It's a bit thin on the palate, quite sweet, with a smooth carbonation. Roasted malts, raisin, prunes, brown sugar, coffee notes, some dark chocolate and nuts in the flavor. Medium length finish. Pity it's so thin, else it's a decent brew. 231123
