Half-pint, well kept festival cask ale after breakfast at Star (JDW). Patchy beige head to a clear brown-reddish body, laces fine. Caramel nose, scent of ripe fruits as well. Flavoured with mild caramel, biscuit, and a note of stewed fruit. Rounded ending, semi-sweet. Pretty good (Gosport 19.10.2022).

Amber. Klar. Lavt tett skum med litt farge. Tykk teppelacing. Aroma av sitrusfrukt. Smaken appelsinskall. Tørr, behagelig bitter avslutning.

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford. Pours “bitter brown” with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. Aroma has nuts and biscuits. In the mouth it has a creamy texture and malts just win out over traditional hops. After a while citrus becomes evident along with some hints of grains and treacle. Finish is rather dry and slightly sticky. Not a world beater, but it’s OK.

Cask @ Regal Moon, Rochdale. Wetherspoon 2022 Autumn Beer Festival Ale. Darker copper-amber, clear, with a glow and a creamy head. Dry biscuit notes dominate, although these are not flavoursome. Its at an easy strength though so slips down the palate well enough.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A copper coloured pour with a thin cream coloured head; fruity aroma; smooth malty body with some red fruit; then a rather dry biscuity finish.
