This is what happens when you let a chef loose in your brewery. In 2011 Masterchef winner Tim Anderson came to visit. He played Trivial Pursuit, he made us breakfast and he also came up with the recipe for this utterly bonkers beer. We all thought it was commercial suicide and wondered how we were going to hide the fact we brewed it.

Shows how much we know! This is a brilliantly well-balanced beer with an incredible depth of flavour. The smoked malts work in perfect harmony with the subtle chilli flavours and the mouth feel is full and rich.

An extremely limited beer, so make the most of it. Extremely small batch (2.5 barrel in fact), all individually numbered.

Bottle shared at CPK, London - many thanks to Paul for picking up this Tim Anderson collaboration. Pours brown with a large, beige head. Dark malt nose with light smokey notes. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate chili spice, some dark chocolate. Medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Light spiciness on the finish with moderate cocoa. Very pleasant stuff. Not too hot - good spice integration. Tasty.

Sample from bottle offered to me by Scopey. A dark brown coloured pour with virtually no head to speak of. Roasty, malty, smokey aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, slightly smokey, hint of chocolate, a little chilli coming through. Quite an interesting little number.

Bottle #721 of 864 picked up at Black Isle. It pours dark brown with a medium light tan head. The nose is earth, rich roasted malt, spice, smoke, vegetal, chilli pepper skin and dark chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, toast, chilli pepper in the background, earth, bitter chocolate, coffee grinds spice, hint of dark fruit and light acidity with a warming, roasty finish. Fairly restrained chilli, but well balanced. Decent.

Bottled, thanks to Jens for sharing. Black with a lasting tan head. Fruity aroma with green pepper, and some licorice and caramel. Dry and slightly sour/tannic flavour with lots of pepper. A bit hot, but not too disturbing for the beer experience.
