Brewed with layers on layers of dark malts and hopped in the kettle with Spalter Select. Then fermented cold with a clean lager strain. Lastly we let the beer slowly mature in stainless steel for little over six weeks before packaging. On the palate, the Schwarzbier has flavors of biscuits and caramel malts and it finishes nicely with hints of coffee, toffee, nuts and a soft roastiness. Prost!

Malz:
Pilsner, Munich Dark, Chocolate, Carafa Special III & Caramunich III

Hopfen:
Magnum, Spalter Select

Hefe:
Saflager W-34/70

25 October 2025. At “Gentse Biervereniging Kelderschatten” (Baracuna). Cheers to the whole crew!

Iron, coffee pad, brown bread. Sweetish brambleberry, brown bread, bitter coffee. Earthy hops, bit metallic, malty finish. Okay, bit too metallic.

Gents Bier Festival 2023 - Very dark brown. Aroma has a touch of sweet coffee and malt syrup. Less so in the flavour, that's quite plain.

Short lived, light cream-coloured head over almost black cola-coloured beer. Smoked, beachwood fire, tarry. Smoked, again Rauchmalz flavours, but in a mild, delicate way. Bit of dry chocolate, lightly roasted nuts. Light body, light slickness, even bit sticky backthroat. Very good - no idea it would be smoked, and to me it's halfway between a Schwarz and a Rauchbier.

Clear red brown beer, creamy beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, hay, gentle roast, some cow fodder. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: a bit sourish start, good roast, malty, grains, a bit hoppy, bitter. Aftertaste: more roast, coffee, little malty, grains, bitter finish.

Can at Goblet. Very dark brown body, tan head, thick, lasting fairly. Raisins and chocolate in the aroma, roasty and flowery too. Chocolate and raisins in the taste, light and dry, ending bitterish. Quite okay.

Black, big frothy light brown head. Smells toasty, bready. Light body, soft carbonation, chuggable. Taste has some malty sweetness, but is quite bitter in an ashy way. The roast could be toned down quite a bit, feels very harsh now. Ok, but not the best.
