Gesha village in Ethiopia is said to be the birthplace of coffee. Not only does this region offer up the longest coffee history, it also boasts some of the best stuff in the world. This stout is a celebration of that heritage. And a way to show appreciation for some personal close friends in Ethiopia that are part of a handful of incredibly rigorous coffee growers.

Bottled. Black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, marshmallows, syrup, some fudge alcohol and mild cocoa. Flavour is coffee, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa and mild mudcakey sweetness. Rather sweet, but also sharpedged, so not the typical smoothness of Omnipollos dessert beers...

330ml bottle. Sweet, heavy with coffee notes, vanilla, marshmallows, syrup, pastry notes, fudge and mudcake, stingy beany chocolate and cocoa. Okay, not as smooth as the regular.

Großartige Optik, dunkler Creme-Sahneschaum auf pechschwarzem Öl. In der Nase Vanille. Im Trunk ebenso, dazu Milchschokolade, unfassbar gut trinkbar, keine Spur alkoholisch, megalecker.

(330ml bottle from Omnipollo Webshop) Pours pitch black with a small dark tan head. Notes of acidic malt, somewhat tart red fruit, ash, wood, some faintly earthy coffee, maybe some nuts and bourbon. On the whole, just feels like it's infected and off; none of the Noa hallmarks are here and it is barely on the right side of drinkable. Somewhat thin mouthfeel and average carbonation. Was looking forward to this variant but I think I'd need to have another bottle (at this price?...).

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 5 Oct 2018) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of fresh black coffee, dark chocolate, hints of vanilla and rum. Malty, roasted, slightly tart taste with coffee, dark chocolate, tart berries and a balanced coffee bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Really tasty, with a slight coffee acidity coming through. Nice one.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a small but long lasting tan head. Huge aromas of coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is sweet, chocolatey, vanilla, massive amounts of coffee, nutty, roasty, boozy bitter finish. Full bodied, incredibly thick, creamy, soft carbonation. Fantastic beer.
