Backlog September 2011. Amber body under a thin, beige head. Strong aroma of smoked malt and peat. Taste is sweet, smoked malt, peat and some alcohol. Fine body and same aftertaste. A bit one-dimensional but still tasty.

Bottle. Reddish brown color, hazy. Smoky aroma. Ash, cigars, mango. Malty sweet flavor initially, but the sweetness is challenged by a firm smokiness like from peat, tar, cigars. Banana and mango. Medium bodied. Very well balanced, if you like smoke. The alcohol is hardly noticed. A brave and excellent beer.

Bottle split at my 40th bash in Londres, thanks to an IP trade with Christian, 11/10/14. Murky chestnut brown with moderate beige edgeing. Nose is wood fire, raisnes, smoked malt, dark fruit, nutty. Taste comprises smoked malt, rich dark fruits, roasted tones, smoked meats, tar, faint toffee. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid smoked affair, has held up well and drinks well below ABV, although this has likely dropped away a little.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours murky deep brown with a decent beige head. The nose is rich, sweet, smokey, sultana, raisin, candy, brown sugar and cake. The taste is bitter-sweet, brown sugar, candy, fruit cake, spice, plum skin, fig, smoked and medicine with a dry finish. Medium+finish and moderate carbonation. Nice depth. Gooooood.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to the birthday boy. Pours cloudy amber with a creamy tan head. The nose has some smoked ham, a bit of candi sugar. Big sweet flavor, lots of honey, caramel, candied ham, cigarettes, a bit of bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with heavy smoke, more candied ham, caramel, bread, some fruits. Nice complexity.

Bottle from Yespr. Drank in Avenue Hotel in CPH. Aromatic nose of smoke, wood, chocolate, soy sauce, touch of fruit. Dark brown with a lacy head, bubbles. Sweet chocolate first in the mouth, with cola, fruit, maybe orange, smoke, woody barrel. This has held upnamazingly well. Still fresh and spritzy. Smoke isnprobably less than before, but great wood flavors, chocolate, fruits, honey. Not very heavy, silky and peppery carbonation. Finish has bitter hops, roast malt, smoke, and wood. Excellent and very interesting.
