Draught@TCBW2023. Reddish brown colour with a mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, some wood, mild dried fruity tones with some slight roasted and nutty tones to it. Flavour is quite similar to the aroma, but ends a bit on the watery side as for the palate. Still

Dezent säuerlicher, alkoholisch-malziger Beginn. Wenig Schokolade, der Alkohol bleibt deutlich vorhanden, weich, zum Ende Kakao. Nuancen von Kirschen, die im Nachgeschmack präsenter werden. 10/11/11/11/9/11

Can from Daily Delis, Amsterdam. Hazy dark brown-blackish, quickly thinning, beige head. Strong aroma of prune, cherry, raisin, pear, dark fudge, port wine, almond, toast, dark chocolate, wet wood, vague blue cheese. Taste has sweet prune, cherry & pear over a thick malt base of almond, toast & toffee, somewhat black tea-like herbal and spicy-phenolic. Earthy hops in the finish, ongoing sweetness of toffee, cherry, dried dark fruits (Chimay!), whiff of wood and warming brandy-like alcohol. Medium to full body, (thin) syrupy texture, average carbonation. Interesting concoction, especially with the recognisable Chimay yeast, lending it a Belgian profile indeed.

Barrel aged quad by Kees in collaboration with Põhjala, cheers Leopold! Apparently aged on a brand of Ukrainian sherry liqueur (I did not even know there was such a thing). Pale beige, moussy, open ring for a head, dark bronze-brown robe with ruby red glow. Aroma of caramel, horse steak juice, Kirsch, sweet sherry indeed, candied cherries, hints of chocolate, brown rum, almond, gravy, brown bread and tawny port. Sweet, even rather sticky onset, candi-sugary with effects of candied cherry, ‘boerenjongens’ and medlar, soft carb with full body, remaining a bit sticky even further on; caramelly, toffeeish malt core with a chocolatey edge and growing sherry vinosity and sweetness, with a lot of vanillin-breathing oak wood, soft herbal hops providing a mild and late bitter note and warming to eventually quite boozy alcohol. Decent sipper with an interesting profile and premise, perhaps a tad too sweet and boozy for me but meritorious and complex enough.
