Bottled. A deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as hints of acidity. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of chocolate and light notes of roasted malt. The body is light.

Cask, John Hewitt, Belfast. Very dark brown colour with a thin tan head. Not much in the aroma. Thin mouthfeel for a stout. Slightly sweet flavour with vague caramel, chocolate and berry fruit notes, but all rather muted and lacking in any real character.

Cask at Penderels Oak, Holborn 15 Nov 08. Black colored. An OK lasting light brown creamy head. Aroma of coffee & chocolate. Mild flavor – not offensive, but roasted malt dominates. Dry aftertaste of coffee.

Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - The Moon Under Water, London
Dark brown color. Light aroma. Mild chocolate and roasted malt flavor, quite smooth, a bit milky too. The roasted malt is stronger at the end, but not too much for my palate. Pleasant.

Cask @ EBF 2008. Dark, reddish body, almost black with a thin off/white head. Aroma of roasted malt and lots of chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, some chocolate and dry fruit. A bit thin body, but after all quite refreshing and tasty. Not bad at all.

Cask handpull at Humphrey Bean JDW, Tonbridge. Black, ruby edges, thick creamy beige head. Decent creamy stout with blackberry flavours. Its reasonably tasty, more a cream stout than a dry roasted one. Creamy and rather good. Some hop bitterness on finish

[Cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Pours black with burgundy highlights and a large, foamy off-white head that dissipates quickly through drinking. Smell and initial taste dominated by a lovely mix of roasted malts and coffee. Just about the right amount of bitterness to cut through the almost too smooth and creamy texture. This could be a great, easy drinking stout - not one for those who are looking for complexity or depth, perhaps, but one for those who want an enjoyable quaffing stout. However, the whole thing is rather ruined by a sour metallic flavour that comes through a little near the end. Still not at all bad though - a very comforting winter drink.
