Bottle on the street just in front of Oelbutikken. Almost black and opague. Chocolate and raisin in the aroma and flavor. Chili luckily restricted to the far background, only revealing itself slowly in the aftertaste. Well balanced brew.

28th June 2009
Opaque black stout, semi soft and semi dry palate. Mild dark chocolate with minerals. Then the chili starts, a slow and persistent burn that warms greatly without ever becoming searing. Unusual and well judged beer.

Bottle marked bb 10/06/09 thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a near black body and a fading off-white head. Aroma is earthy with tobacco and chocolate. Taste is a little bit of chili, decently watery and a slight burn mixed with chocolaty notes. Light carbonation.

Sample outside Ølbutikken in Copenhagen – thanks to Yngwie and Beer_2000. A decent stout which is not run over by the chilli. Smell of roasted dark malts and spices. Assorted flavours of sweet, dark chocolate, some coffee and with a smooth chilli touch behind. Dry, fruity bitterness to the ending. Tan coloured body (13.09.2008).

Had this at the European Beer Festival Kobenhaven 13-09-08 this was far less imposing that the Mikkeller chilli/choco combination and whilst fine not quite in the same league. Highish carbonation pours dark brown with a light beige head some creamy milk chocolate on the nose but the chilli was something of a shrimnking violet and was quite difficult to detect, if you’re going to do it then you have to be like Mikkeller and be brazen and up front with this type of combination.

500 ml bottle. Dark brown, almost black body with a decent beige head. Aroma is light roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is fruity, roasted malt, balanced bitterness, chocolate and coffee, the chili is lurking in the background and is more noticed in the finish. Nice balance, like it a lot.

(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Black-colored. Aroma of roasted malt and cocoa. Sweetish roasty flavor with some chocolate and a bit of caramel. Medium to full-bodied. Nice, but somehow I missed the chili in this one.

Bottled@RBESG 2008 Grand Tasting
Almost pitch black color, small tan head. Menthol, roasted aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Very chocolaty , nice beer ... then chili burn hits! Very balanced and the best chili beer I’ve ever tasted.
