Tasted @ EBF 2008. Almost opague. Cream, licorice and a hint of oak in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with licorice, cream and raisin. Quite likeable. (3.8) Bottle, shared @ jbrus’s place. 2006 vintage. I had to boost the rating a bit, because this beer, given more time to savour and enjoy is much better than I thought @ the EBF. Dark chocolate, whisky and dried fruit in the aroma. Dark chocolate, licorice, dried fruit and salt in the flavor. Just hints of butter and whisky. The alcohol is well hidden. Sticky mouthfeel. Very well balanced, excellent beer.

Opaque black stout. Very light woody nose. Surprisingly light palate - a little crisp and a little dry. Light and lactose sweet malt. Both wood and whisky have a light touch. Finishes semi dry with some darker malt coming through and minerally whisky. Decent beer but not even close to justifying it’s ridiculous price. Good job there isn’t a value box here!

Bottle at the RBESG 2012 Grand Tasting, London. Vintage 2006. Pours opaque black-brown with a medium tan head. Huge dark, ripe fruit nose with some chocolate notes. Very sweet flavor with tangy dark malts, mild roast, and chocolate syrup. Full bodied with fine to medium carbonation. Bit of warmth in the finish. Lingering roast with mild wood and oak notes, and plenty of mocha. Great stuff.
