A real classic, Belhaven’s St Andrews Ale is inspired by the great Scottish invention – golf. It’s simple really – a truly great beer, great balance and great flavours. The pale malt gives a biscuity and Horlicks note and the crystal malt adds toffee and caramel. Challenger and Goldings hops give a clean bitterness and fresh dry hop character which balances the sweet malt and the warmth from the alcohol. A warming, malty brew.

Bottle. A whole quid, from Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Clear amber colour. Film of dense, off white head. Nose has light, sweet malts. Some berry fruits. Taste is light sweet. Minimal bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Fruity bitter finish. Ok.

Rich, roasted malt flavor. Hints of fruits and, strangely, chocolate. Taste and aroma lighten as you progress. Keeps a nice creamy head.

Bottle from Meny (Amager), Copenhagen - Amber pour with off white head. Aroma and taste is sweet and toasty malty, some caramel and toffeish sweetness, light herbal twiggy hoppy nuances, pretty thin mouthfeel. Basic stuff. ---Sent via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear nutty color with a creamy off white head. Lovely lacy. Toffee, butterscotch and malty. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Tad sweet and a mild bitterness. Dull boring stuff.

Bottle contributed by, and shared with, EMJ at OSB 08.04.15. Dark golden. Pale beige head. Decent aroma of semi-dark malt and slightly metallic hops. Quite sweet taste, with toffee and sweet malt. Decent.

Lovely clear copper color with a fine off white head. Ok lacing. Hoppy aroma, with light fruity notes. Moderate caramel, mild bready and hoppy flavor with some fruitiness coming through.
