Beautiful ruby pour, small white head. Amazing aroma of goldings, pale, bready, caramel malts. Flavor is spicy, and hoppy, and bready. Outstanding stuff. The carb is soft the finish semi bitter with a great Golding finish .

Bottle split at Level 42, thanks to Fergus, 24/05/16. Lightly hazed orange amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is varnish, spice, tarte fruit esters, sharp bitter notes, not overly pleasant. Taste comprises caramel, fruit loaf, less of the sharp and bitter, dates, Xmas cake. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so ... nose lets this down a few points.

Old bottle thanks to Fergus at level 42. It pours murky deep brown with a thick Biere head. The aroma is earthy, dirty, brown bread, nail varnish remover, candy, melon, old musty apple and candy. The taste is earthy, musty, old dirty apple, earth, damp leaves, alcohol, pear drops, barnyard and wet cardboard with a dry, musty finish. Medium body and foamy carbonation. Pretty knackered.

Bottle. A pre-ratebeer signup rate for me, many moons ago, although it’s not too dissimilar from the current lower strength version. Dark amber, fairly smooth in the palate, some sweetness, some fruitiness.

Bottle from a supermarket in London, 2013, as Brakspear Triple. Rather faint nose, caramel, earth, some estery yeast, apricot, hay. Amber-orange, clear, with a fine bubbly head. Sweet malts, some caramel and crackers, Lightly fruity, apricot, orange hops, grassy, grainy. Hard to categorize this. Prickly, peppery, citrus hop finish, though not hugely bitter, with crackers. Full, smooth body, though not too heavy. Prickly carbonation. Nice, but not really enough flavor for the strength.

500ml bottle - Deep amber body, slight off white head, soon goes. Nose is bananas, molasses, caramel and fruits. Taste is lovely and warming, more alcohol noticeable than in the little 6.7% bottles, and with a great velvety mouthfeel. Decent.
