Double IPA – A strong and full bodied ale with intense hop characteristics and a deep golden color. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful bittering and fragrant hop character of this beer. Double IPA pairs nicely with shellfish and spicy dishes.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Slightly hazy amber with a handsome, creamy head. Lightly perfumy, floral aroma. Sweetish malty - actually distinctly sweet. Completely dominated by aroma hops, but not overly bitter. A very accessible IIPA. 271105

Deep, dark, hazy body; small tan head. Deep aroma of citrusy hops, with sweet malt character, somewhat oily. Aroma not too powerful. Taste is bitter, oily, citrusy, sweet, deep and firm, with faint caramel malts. Oily, carbonated mouthfeel. Unusually deep and powerful taste for an IPA. Very good!

Bottle at London Gathering Nov 05. Cloudy orange/copper colour with lasting beige head. US strong IPA typical nose. Lots of hops, grapefruit and some chocolate limes. Good in mouth with full velvety feel. Very intense flavours but some softness. The finish is a bit one dimensional, but overall a pleasing US strong IPA

Hazy light amber colour. Earthly, lightly grapefruity hop in the nose. The flavour is fairly sweet, with rich caramel. They almost gets cloying, these malts. Light tropical fruit and jolly rancher fruit notes kick around a bit underneath of the sweetness. A little bitterness going on, but it’s overwhelmed.

Fully hazy orange-amber; disappearing off-white head. Citryssy nose, dry hops, cookies and - preserved pineapple? Sweet and dry-bitter taste, a bit piney, resiny and only slightly citrussy. Wry, dry taste, bone-dry. Aftertaste is short, but more balanced, the sweet and the bitter finally confluent. Not really impressive double IPA. Dry gets another dimension here.

Pours a nice copperish color with lots of effervescence and a substantial frothy head. Fruity, floral aromas greet you. Flavor is a bit different from most IPA’s in that the hops doesn’t come into play in the aroma, but it is there in the flavor. At first there is an alcoholic jolt... it’s over 10% abv... then hops, then caramelly malt, then hops again, then fruit-maybe apple, then alcohol and hops again... I’ve tried it a few times and it is the same. I can’t say that it isn’t pleasant, but it seems that the high alcohol percentage interferes a little with the flavor and palate offerings.

A hazy orange beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is alcoholic, with notes of peaches and caramel, while the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, leading to a dry hoppy end.

Bottled. U.S. Beer #17 of 31 for American Beer Month! Rated "live." Big, heady malt and IPA smell when I crack the bottle. Pours a deep, firety orange with a thin head that’s dwindling quickly. Hops are not the first thing I taste here, but a great malty, alcoholic slap to the adenoids. A nice little burn that leaves my throat just a little raw for the hops to take their seats. Can’t find any one hop profile here; I’m still not that practiced a judge; just a bittersweet balance of love and despair. A lovely capstone to a long hot summer weekend (watching Laurel & Hardy on TCM, if you must know).

Bottled. Hazy orange big white creamy head, lacing. Fruity nose. Fruity, hoppy and alcohol in flavour. Hoppy fruit in aftertaste. The IPA works, and the alcohol suits the flavour completeness pretty well.
