A few times a year we cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

A complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and cherries. Unlined Oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beaten path.

Bottle @ Chris_o. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Spicy malty woody oak aroma with some sour fruitiness. Sweet malty spicy oaky flavor with hints of sour cherries. Sweetish and slightly vinious oaky finish. Very nice!

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. This beer is a lightly hazed reddish brown-amber with a thin and filmy off-white head that diminishes to nothing fairly soon. Minimal lacing. Cider-like aroma with touches of yeast and spice. Medium-bodied with a tart fruity character and malt, nut and spice flavors. The finish is sour cherries with a lingering tart fruit aftertaste. Overall a unique and interesting beer that I would try again.

Bottle (from Ofortuna). Sour milk, cider and musty barnyard aroma. Cloudy orange brown color with small head. Initially a sweet orange/apple/vanilla flavor followed by a glancing flavor of caramel malt, then sour/tart finish. Brilliant.

Bottle from HogTownHarry drunk at Chris_o’s HogTownHarry meet up. Sour up front. Like a Napa Valley oaky aorma, bit of vanilla. Some sourness continues. Good strawberry sour fruit in mouth. Nice pippyness. Then I had to run for the train.

Shared by Dickinsonbeer. Caveat: this beer was definitely better fresh, this rating is for an almost year old bottle. Aroma is feces-esque, spices amd old malt. Also get old socks. Taste is flowers with fruit-like sweetness. Low carbonation. Not really sour but sour-esque. Definitely was better fresh but its only been a year and this beer should not be this bad. 6/3/6/3/14. Re-rate: Another bottle, over 2 years old now. This one is from drewbeerme. A better experience with this one. I dont know, its almost just like the Belgian Red. Sweet malty biscuit cherry juice. 8/3/7/3/15

Bottle: Pours what looks to be muddy water with no head. Aroma is rich with sweet and tart, just a bit of the oaky tones. Flavor is soft at first with a wet, sweet and tart feel. Then the pie cherries and with more intense tartness kicks in. Light woody notes and even a bit of vanilla. Thanks Footbalm for sending this treat.

Bottle in the company of Doppelganger, Tracey and Loz. Vanilla and cherry dominated this most stunning of aroma’s, it really was the most lovely of scents that you just had to keep going back to. The beer poured a murky brown that had a slight rubyness to it. Taste was just great with a bitter cherry bite that whilst pleasantly sour was never ever overdone, the vanilla was also present in the mouth and worked wonderfully in taking the edge off of the bitter cherry allied as it was with a nice soft carbonation. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and despite it being in the company of some very good beers this evening felt that it stood out as something quite special.

A hazy reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. Brett hits you right away, as does nice little cherries, candy sugar. A nice complex horseblanket. In mouth, a light sweet cherry with strong organic notes, wood, bark, flowers. Rich and complex...more please! Tasted at "Montréal YeHA! Party 2006". Dec. 16 2006.
