Black with dark creamy head. Strong aroma of wood and sweet vanilla. Flavour has dark chocolate and lots of bourbon. There's not much of the Islay except an underlying leathery note. Good though.

Panda at home, thanks to Fergus, 29/05/23. Black with a tan cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is packed with Islay, chocolate, burnt toffee, spice, light medicinal notes, bourbon. Taste comprises chocolate, more bourbon and less Islay, light smoke, molasses, toffee, dried fruit rinds, dates. Full bodied, fine carbonation with a light oily touch, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid BA impy.

Pours black, small tanned head. Scent is medium loud peatyness, chocolate in the back. raisins, mild traces of vanilla. Sharp. Taste is full, roasty, plastic-like peatyness - tempered by the chocolate and residual sweetness, which rises due to the vanilla in the back. Beautifull interaction of barrels. OK base. Even as a peat-hater, this beer is pretty alright !

330 ml can. Pours black with moderate foamy head. Aromas of peat, chocolate, vanilla and roasted malts. Flavors of creamy chocolate, soft smoky peat, nuts, dark sugar and rich roasty malt. Dry finish. Super balance between chocolate and peat. Very good.

0.33 l can from 'Hoptimaal', best before December 2026. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, quite roasty, slightly fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, fruity whisky, hazelnut and some vanilla. Rather sweet, malty, fairly roasty, gently smoky-medicinal and slightly fruity taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, roasted hazelnut, fruity whisky, some peat and a touch of cherry, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Heavy beer, lots of barrel influence but with a strong base beer to carry that. Not totally balanced but a memorable experience. Good!
