We Consider this an extreme version of an American Pale Ale. It has a very up front floral and citrus aroma from a late cascade addition and dry hopping with Amarillo. This beer also has a big malt background to balance the bitterness of the hops. The rye malt cleans up your palette after you swallow so the hop flavor does not stick in your mouth too long.

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Clear deep golden. Aroma of rye bread and lychee. Medium sweet with rounded chewy mouthfeel and medium body. Lots of crystal malt. Plenty of hop flavour, but not a lot of bitterness.

Bottle courtesy of Mr_Kimchee: Poured an hazy dirty yellow color ale with a medium bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of citrus hops and big malt is easily identifiable. Taste is well balance mix between big malt with some noticeable rye presence as well as a bitter finish with cirtusy hops. Body is above average and carbonation is a bit lower then expected. Another fine beer from this great brewery.

2006 bottle I believe, shared by OldGrowth on 7/6/06.
Orange-amber with some lighter gold-yellow tints, soft and easygoing on the eyes. Fluffy white head is not terribly long retained (but itβs not bottle conditioned, so itβs not surprising), but does leave some patchy lace.
Spicy, dry fruits bombard the nose, as very soft, well-attenuated honeyish malts soften things. Dry grains, lightly biscuity sit on the end, stiffly. The rye is perfumey and equally drying. Dry, dry, dry! And hoppy. Fruity, floral but not too bitter, just crisp and challenging.
The flavor is pilsener-like, or reminds me of one, anyway. Dry, with straw-like graininess, light honey drizzled about and with light, crisp, hops that pepper the palate pleasingly. No heavy caramel, sweet base sugars or breadiness here. Just highly attenuated malts that provide moderate body. The rye works wonders as it keeps the perceived dryness level high and adds a perfumey, challenging touch of fruity/spiciness to the mix. Carbonation, though artificial, is actually quite appropriate, feeling more like a quenching lager than a soft ale.
This must be just absolutely mind-blowing fresh on draught. The day that Terrapin finds a bottle-conditioned line of bottles is the day I move to Georgia! Thanks Tom (and Larry)! My score is a bit of a mix between the bottle (which has its problems with filtration/carbonation) and what I expect this beer would be without the filtration/force carbonation. Damn you Fredricks!

Fresh out of the box from a trade with jimbowood. Hazy orange body, medium off-white head. Strong, grassy aroma with wet hay and fruits (peaches and apricot, especially the latter). Spicy, bitter hops. Tangy, grassy body, bready, with some of the same apricot notes noticed in the aroma. Bitter, citric hops play nicely off the fruity, spicy rye. There is a somewhat cloying fruity, syrupy aftertaste that I could do without.

Bottle. Extremely strong aroma - peach, orange, apple. malt, and hops. Hazy amber color with small head. Sweet fruity flavor up front - orange/apple with a moderate hoppy finish. Well-blended with neither the fruit or hops coming out too strong. Very nice.

Bottle at London Gathering Nov 2005. IPA US hop aromas. Strange orangey flavour and bad carbonation. Bit bland compared with the other US IPAs we had on the afternoon. Finish has some nice hop bitterness. It did lead to an interesting coversation about R.E.M. though with Mungo.

Bottle Pours a hazy pale orange amber witha small fine fizzy head. This settles out quickly and the aroma is a malty and hoppy combo. Quite a bit of citrus, grapefruit notes in the hop side. Flavors are grassy and of light grains. A strong bitter edge but not typical hop type. Must be the rye malts. Almost a tame IPA. Refreshing, slightly bitter and a bit dry. Not bad.
