This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

bottle. Pours deep copper, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some light elements of smoke and peat with caramel and hints of fruits. Flavor, some sweet lactic malts, god caramel and light chocolate. Some bitter hops to be noted with hints of spices, dark fruits; currants. Overall mouthfeel retains plenty of caramel with very faint touch of smoke. Nice!

Overall Impression: One of the Sam's you see all over the place, a nice looking beer with a drinkable, but not overwhelming taste. Roasty and sweet.

Bottle. A reddish dark brown beer with an almost tan head of very moderate size. Quite neutral on the nose, some caramel and roasted malts, but not much. Roasted malts, caramel and a touch of coffee in the mouth, medium body. Roasted finish with caramel. A quite decent beer, but surprisingly boring. Hope I’m not prejudiced. Don’t think so, it didn’t ring any bells at all. (090116)

Pitch black, completely opaque with a one centimetre thick tan head atop the beer. Aroma of roasted malt, smoked peat, coffee, nuts and a light chocolate smell. Medium-bodied; Great smokey flavour up front with a good malt backbone & some good nutty & sweet flavours following soon behind. Aftertaste is bitter, but suprisingly nice. Overall, one of the best Sam Adams beers I’ve had! Thanks Phil (haddon90) for giving me this beer, keep it up for some more beers, Jim Koch! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle given to me by haddon90, purchased from Giant in Manassas, Virginia on 08-July-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
