Keg draught at Tønne, Leicester with Rune and Finn. Brownish red, clear with a small off-white head. Gentle resinous aroma, some malt roses. Gentle taste, quite malty, ruby chocolate. Light body with lively carbonation. Not as much personality as I'd have liked, but that's the style really. It's just about okay.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear deep red with a dense beige head. The aroma is soft, bitter - sweet, toasty grain, dull red fruits, white bread jam sandwich, jam rolly polly, toasty grain and caramel. The taste is dry upfront, light tannin, bitter - sweet, toasty grain, earthy roast, grassy, metallic twang, touch jammy fruits and caramel with a bitter, drying finish. Average body and moderate, velvety carbonation. Has quite a weird bitter finish, almost acrid. Nitro definitely saves it.

440ml nitro can from Hamilton Super BuyRite. Deep copper red pour. Creamy, finger-high beige head is incredibly firm and stoic. Soft, malty aroma of toasty grain. Soft, creamy mouthfeel leans towards toasted malt and caramel. A hint of nuttiness as well. Little hop presence to speak of. Very drinkable and sessionable. Slainte’!

Can, 0.44l. Deep amber pour, one finger creamy off-white head, long lasting. Sticky lacing on the glass. Nice on the nose, malty, toasted caramel, fruity notes in the background. Medium to full body, flat carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel and texture, thick and chewy, very nice and easily drinkable. Nicely balanced taste, malty sweet with subtle roasty bitterness. Aroma of toasted caramel, dried fruits, rye bread. Subtle coffee notes in the background. Medium lasting finish, slightly dry, subtle lingering bitterness. Enjoyable.
