A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled.
Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar.

Bottle thanks to the Dood! Pours dark brown with a light brown head that is thin but remains throughout the beer. Aroma has nice deep roasted malts with some dark grains and a bit of dryness. Flavor has rich roasted malts and dark grains with a touch of bitter chocolate and dryness.

9/VIII/13 - 50cl BOTTLE @ De Hopduvel - BB: 25/IV/13 (that's about just in time, in my books) (2013-703) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!
Clear deep brown beer, irregular creamy small beige to brown head, bit adhesive, little stable. Aroma: lots of acaramel, alcohol, mocha, bit smoky, bit of dried fruits, cocoa powder, little dusty, coffee powder. MF: soft carbon, full body, bit oily texture. Taste: surprisingly sourish start, lots of coffee, cocoa powder, some caramel, sour red berries. Aftertaste: caramel, coffee, some citrus, hints of vanilla and some smoke, cooca powder, more coffee, dry hop bitterness and burnt toast in the end.

Bottle (which has crossed the Atlantic twice), shared @Bruces. It pours dark brown with a medium tan head. The nose is earth, roasted malt, caramel, toast, bubblegum, faint smoke and coffee. The taste is soft, roasty, smooth, ashy, salted caramel, toast, touch of oxidation, umami aspect, cocoa powder and earth with a dry, roasty finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Smooth, well balanced and very drinkable indeed. Great stuff.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London - big thanks to Paul. Pours thick, black-brown with a dense, beige cream head. Some milk chocolate in the nose, hints of burnt wood and hard alcohol out. Medium to big sweet flavor, good and rich bitter earth, dark cocoa, strong roast, bittersweet cocoa. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Mellow warmth to finish, gritty chocolate, earth, bit of milk chocolate, light roast. Damn tasty.

Bouteille 500ml.

Draught @ St. Urho’s Pub. Rated on 20.02.2010
Aroma has roasted notes, very dark chocolate and salty licorice. Flavour is rather roasted with some sweetish malty notes, dark chocolate and slightly salty licorice. Feels slightly sour on some sips. A very nice porter which has just the right level of roastiness.

14/12/2012 on tap @ GEIB (2008 Vintage). Nera, impenetrabile, schiuma color beige-cappuccino, abbondante e incredibilmente persistente.

One of the first bottles I ever bought at Barley wine in Copenhagen in 2006. Label with a typewriter font, black on with. Very appealing. Pours black beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted combined with notes of caramel and hints of alcohol. A very robust, sweet, vinous and fruity porter with lots of coffee and chocolate tones as well as wood, and nuts and hints of tar. The mouthfeel is very creamy and slightly sticky. One of the beers the got me stuck.
