Gedronken van het vat bij de stadsbrouwerij in Zutphen. Donkerbruin tot zwart bier met mooie stevige schuimkraag. Smaak is bitter met iets van drop, anijs en wat karamel. Hele goede dubbel.

Tap, small tasting glass. Full bodied, rather vinous flavor. Malty sweet and caramelly, but also very fruity. Cherry but also porto-like grapes. Warming alcohol. Somewhat sharp on the tongue. Hint of licorice. Also licorice and cake dough in the aroma. Pretty well balanced.

On tap at the Brewpub, Zutphen, Netherlands Thursday 27th September 2018 following a lovely cycle ride alongside the river from our campsite nr Deventer Like the Magistraat this pours dark brown with a slim off white head, but in flavour a million miles away from that beer. Caramel, dates and a little liquorice, it's an enjoyable beer. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.4

Sampled from tap at the brewpub. Clear, dark brownish amber with a tan head. Sweetish-malty, slightly spicy aroma of caramel, brown sugar, nuts and some licorice. Sweet, malty and a little spicy taste of caramel, brown sugar, nuts and hints of chocolate, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little yeasty-spicy finish with notes of licorice. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not very deep, just okay.

From tap at the brewpub as Broedertje Dubbel, 8%. Pours clear and golden hazzlenut brown with a small diminished off-white head. Aroma is sooth roasted caramel malty with a very minor butterish note. Sweet caramel malty as main flavour impression. Light spiced too. Mild sweet finish with a light acidic roasted note lasting into the far finish.

Dark brown color, medium creamy head. Aroma of strong malts, licorice, some laurel, milk chocolate, quite good. However, taste is not as good, but is more milky and spicy and a bit sour even. In the end it becomes more like coffee with milk, but creamy. Nice try, and if they improve the taste this can be a very good one.
