New (‘experimental’) Tilquin fruit lambic made with wild blueberries – a bit confusingly so, as a version with cultivated blueberries was also made, and simply named "Myrtille". Sampled at Tilquin Fruit Extravaganza #1 at Moeder Lambic. Densely moussy, bright pink – lilac head, hazy dark ‘mauve’ colour, a beautiful deep purple, deeper in fact than the colour of the regular Myrtille. Rich wild blueberry nose, blueberry juice and even a hint of sweetish blueberry crumble, hints of tomato concentrate, raw rhubarb, sour wild apple, yoghurt, funky horse stable-like and sweaty notes. Full-fledged blueberry fruitiness in the mouth, sour and with only the slightest hint of ‘intrinsic’ sweetness, lemony and – obviously – tart berry-like, soft carbo, smooth wheaty and bready base completely dried by the sourness ; ends dry, sour and still brimming with blueberry juice fruitiness and tartness, the dryness accentuated by obvious blueberry seed and skin tannins. This what a blueberry lambic should be like, seemingly a tad more sour and in that sense perhaps ‘wild’ than the regular Myrtille but the differences are very small and virtually unnoticeable unless tasted side by side. If any of these two makes it into the bottle some day, I’ll be very happy.

Thanks! Sampled draft @ “Tilquin Fruit Extravaganza #1” at Moeder Lambiek. Dark red fruit juice, much darker than Myrtille. Nose is bit muted, red berries, blueberries, low vinegar, very lovely. Taste is red berries, acidic, bit more sour than Myrtille, blueberry bit harsh, vinegar, highly tasty massive blueberry juice, red berries, soft carbonation, dry, fruit skins, very delicious.

Taste: super fruity, soft acidity, little bitter, more berries. Aftertaste: fruity, berries, tannins, pretty bitter, nice one.

2018 version : Pours very dark, unclear purple. Small white-pink head. Smell is fruity, intense, medium intense lambic back. Taste is very tart, fully fruity, aromatic, dry. Nice 7.3/10

2021 Version : Pours bit unclear, purpleamber. Scent is sharp, earthy fruityness, fairly complex. Funky. Taste is sharp, mostly lactic acid, full earthy berry notes. Not very typical blueberry - I'm unsure thats due to the beer-berry-blend, or due to the fact these are wild blueberries. 7.3/10

Keg at the Beavertown Extravaganza, day one, 08/09/17. A deep plum red coloured pour with a fine pink head. Aroma is big dirty barnyard, farting horse. Flavour is composed of blackberry, woody berry, farmyard and dirty funk, woody dry finish. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carboantion, crisp tart finish. Nice!
