Ook het Grosse Bertha recept heeft een evolutie doorgemaakt, maar maak je geen maak je geen zorgen, het is niets te drastischhet omvat voornamelijk a fermentatie met een andere gist. Tripel Bertha heeft een beetjeiets meer drank en body maar nog steeds heeft de vertrouwde balans tussen zoet en bitter en de klassieke aroma's van banaan, kruidnagel & kauwgom. We hopen dat je het net zo lekker vindt als voorheen, of zelfs nog lekkerder!

0.33l bottle, courtesy of Elvis. Aroma of wheat, coriander and banana peel. Pours clear golden color with thin creamy white head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts moderate sweet grainy, dried fruity and yeasty, following is herbal, spicy and medicinal, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is on a drier side and heavy bitter. Bottle from AFFI @ Idealazise. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, sugar, little fruit. Flavor is sweet, light bitter, malt, yeasty, sugar, sweet fruit, some alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation, sweet finish with a little warming alcohol. 120725

Bottiglia. All'olfatto si esprimono sentori di sottobosco. L'intensità olfattiva è normale e il modo in cui permane è sufficiente. Il mantello birroso superiore resiste abbastanza. Il liquido si presenta opalescente. Il colore è giallo dorato brillante. Il corpo è rotondo. L'amaro non è invasivo. La forza gustativa è elevata. La continuità gustativa è buona. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. Sul palato si percepiscono sentori di miele, crosta di pane, frutta secca, agrumi, pompelmo, ananas, banana, erbe aromatiche e frutta disidratata.

33cl bottle in Paters Vaetje (Antwerpen) on 22nd October 2024. Hazy golden body, white crust. Yeasty, boozy and the usual Witbier banana and clove signature aroma and taste. Interesting and different.

Bottle, 7.5%. Good fruity aroma, slightly citric and funky. Hazy golden colour. Good stable white head. The flavour starts off quite bitter, but ok clean. Seems to have an ok malt base with a mild spiciness, but it is hard to taste behind the bitterness.

Tripel Bertha is een product van het Brussels Beer Project uit Brussel, het is eigenlijk hun ‘Grosse Bertha’ die nu vergist is met een Duitse ‘Hefeweizen’ gist. BBP ontstond in 2013 onder leiding van twee enthousiastelingen, Olivier en Sébastien. Ze streven ernaar om de productie van hun bieren exclusief Brussels te maken.
TRIPEL BERTHA is een helder goud-geel bier dat een normale hoeveelheid wit moussig schuim produceert, het blijft sterk aan je glaswand kleven en blijft goed stabiel. Echter na een tijd heb je nog slechts een fijn dun laagje schuim op je bier staan. Ook zie je wat gistdepot op de bodem van de fles en zie je een normale hoeveelheid fijne CO2 belletjes naar boven borellen.
HET AROMA:
Zoetig, hopbitter, citrus, mout, wat florale hop.
DE SMAAK:
Licht zoetig, hopbitter, citrus, mout.
HET MONDGEVOEL:
Volle body, wat bitterdroog, een gladde textuur. Wel een prikkelend koolzuurgas.
DE NASMAAK:
Zoetig, suiker, citrus, mout, kruidnagel, het hopbittere vloeit lang uit.
HET TOTAALGEVOEL:
Een harmonieus bier.
HET VERDICT:
Tripel Bertha is een witbier. De hefeweizen gist zorgt voor verwarring, ergens heeft dit bier wel iets weg van een tripel, wat hoppig ook, maar op het eind vond ik het toch richting pils gaan.

(Draught at Brussels Beer Project Dansaert, Brussels, 21 Oct 2023) Golden colour, hazy, with frothy white head. Malty nose with notes of bread, wheat, clove and hay. Malty, slightly fruity taste with hay, bread, clove, banana, orange and a gentle herbal bitterness. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Mellow and well balanced for its strength. Nice one.
