Resin & Rye is an American style barleywine. Brewed with Maris Otter, rye malt and crystal malts. Hopped heavily with two of our favourite old school classic hops Colombus and Chinook. We brewed this resinous beast to mark the 1000th brew at our Oranmore brewery. Resin, rye and a touch of caramel sweetness, all bolstered by a firm, bitter finish. A dream fire side sipper. Drink fresh or age cold!

440ml can from KWM Wines: BB 6th March 2025, drank at home on 26th April 2024; last beer in a mini-tasting with myself. Clear copper pour, light off-white head. Resin and Rye in the nose, taste also heavy on Rye with a piney hop bite, some caramel sweetness tempers the bitterness and it all comes together nicely overall.

6/12/2023. Can shared by Colin, cheers. Pours clear dark amber bronze with a few small bubbles. Aroma of toffee, rye bread, brown sugar, biscuit, apple, orange, dried fruits, piney edge. Moderate sweetness, medium developing bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth, average to soft carbonation. Bittering finish. Decent.

Panda thanks to Cloin. A light haze on this amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Surprisingly light palate, mildly dry, light fine carbonation. Thinnish malts, but with a nice bitterish toffee and a much lesser sweeter caramel. Good hoppage, much more hop forward than yer average barleywine. Smooth pine, a little hop spice. Marmalade and a touch of brighter orange and mandarin. Light finish finds everything coming together and singing a harmonious song. A good example of the substyle of hoppy barleywine, nicely done.

Can at home, picked up from Yards & Crafts online, 08/10/23. Deep copper with a good sized lasting beige head. Nose is toffee, booze, caramel, stewed fruits, dates, figs, burnt brown sugar. Taste comprises fruit cake mix, dates, toffee, brown sugar dusting, caramelised raisins, light hop presence. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of booze. Decent old skool BW ... carries a certain bitterness about it and not run away sweet.
