Two monarchs' of Britain, both called Edward have never been crowed, the latest - Edward VIII had a coronation date set for 12 May 1937, but this was abandoned after his abdication. A tradition ale to celebrate a traditional ceremony. Good hop-malt notes here, fairly balanced, very English style taste and ingredients to be enjoyed. A tad floral.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Sainsbury’s Dalston. Pours clear copper with a foamy, light khaki head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted bread, berries, nips of toffee, earth, yeast. Medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Pretty well balanced to finish, some dry toffee, dried berries, faint cocoa, earth, toast. Quite a classically styled ESA.

[50cl bottle from my local Sainsbury's] A chestnut coloured pour with a billowing cream head; malty aroma; malty body with a caramel taste; then a woody bitterness. An old fashioned bitter.

500ml bottle - Pours a clear amber brown colour with a small beige head. The aroma is bready malts, caramel, dried fruit and leafy hops. A sweetish malty taste, caramel, toasted malt, dried fruit and herbal hop flavours and a peppery hop bitterness in the finish.

Bottle from Sainsbury's, Brookwood, I believe. Aroma has sweet dark fruit which get slightly gluey. Clear dark brown. Thin creamy off-white head. Less sweet in terms of flavour: medium bitter. Earthy. Woody. Sweet fruity streak is less obvious. Boozy burn edge. Light bodied. Slick if thin. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish. Punchy enough for own-brand and nice/surprising to see it's Sainsbury's who've commissioned a 7% Corrie beer

To mark the occasion - was already marked down in the supermarket. Dark amber pour with a lasting white head. Aromas of malt, dried fruit, bread, toffee/caramel - taste adds some candied fruit. Fit for a king? Don't know, but very, very nice for a supermarket brand.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys, Darlington. Amber brown colour, tan foam head and aroma of malt, bready, caramel, dried fruity. Taste is malty, caramel, with chocolate hints, dried fruit, mellow citric, and early bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.
