Sazerac rye barrel aged barley wine.
Big barleywine boiled for over 2 and half hours to give toffee and caramel notes. Fermented with a custom ester forward blend of yeast and aged for a year in Sazerac Rye barrels. Hopped with Endeavour and Challenger hops.

Can. Almost clear amber beer, small but bubbly pale tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Light smooth malts, a very agreeable level of light creamy malts and caramel and toffee that are not even thinking about being over sweet. The barrel aging is rather lovely, light smooth barrel induced oak, fair serving of oaky vanilla. Soft rich okay whiskey soaked fruits, rich and plenty ripe. Whisper of marmaladey citrus peel in there. Light and semi dry finish brings a decent alcohol spice, but for an old boozehound like me, there was no alcohol heat. Bit of a slave to its barrel, but that is 100% A - OK with me, nowt wrong with that as long as the barrel is worthy of being central stage. This one, yeah - qualifies with aplomb.

Can. Murky brown with a broken off white head. Aroma of strong bread, toffee, figs, raisins, pine, lemon peel, mace, pepper. Full bodied but retains a lightness that really makes it. Medium low carbonation. Sweetish but with a combination of bitterness, citrus, spice and spirit it all gets whisked away at the end. Good with outstanding balance and texture.

Really nice though a tiny slight tad too sweet. One of the smoothest rye BA brews I've had. Goodness from Glasgow gladly gobbled down in Goslar.

Can split at the Autumn Watford tasting, picked up onlinesville, 24/09/21. Hazed orange amber with a good sized off white cap that clears edgewards. Nose is rich fruit cake, brown sugar melt, dates, caramel. Taste comprises fruit cake, toffee, dates, figs, brown sugars, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of booze. Tidy enough barley wine.

Can shared in Watford - cheers to Cloin. Pours mostly clear gold with a small, foamy topping. Medium to big sweet flavour, lots of bready malts, pine, ripe oranges. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, more gooey citrus, pine, booze. Not bad.
