Oak and leather with an alcohol polish. Reddish brown pour without much head. Okay kind of boozy end. Fun but not a ton of balance. Tap at Sovereign.

0.75 l bottle from 'Etre Gourmet', bottled in October 2022. Hazy, deep amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, gently funky, slightly fruity-floral aroma of barnyard, plum, soft lemon, some grapefruit and a touch of honey. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly fruity-floral and a bit funky taste of grains, grapefruit, plum, soft lemon, hay, nettles and some barnyard, followed by a medium long, quite bitter, rather dry finish. Medium to full body, smooth and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Fairly rustic but malt-accented Saison with a subtle funky touch. Overall quite pleasant.

75cl bottle (lot 08 10 2022, BB: end of the 2025) from Etre Gourmet web shop. F: big, egg-white, good retention. C: coppery, hazy. A: malty, spicy mix, bit caramel, ginger bread, red berries, bit herbal. T: medium to full malty base, dark malts touch, roasted tones, spicy mix, coriander, wormwood, herbal, long lasting bitterness typical for Fantôme beers, medium carbonation, typical for the brewery :)

Bottle (MilkHead). Just reddish brown with a dense beige head. Intriguing aroma of crackery funk, spices, wormwood? Medium bodied, alive, spritzy. Briefly sweet with some dark sugars or stewed fruit, then herbal and woody notes come through. Like that insistent bitterness - presumably a combination of rye, hop and wood. The foxing is part of the charm but it wouldn't matter if the beer weren't tasty.
