Gissur is named after a great chieftain of Sturlunga saga, Gissur fiorvaldsson, who was most famous – or rather infamous – for killing the poet Snorri Sturluson. His enemies tried to put an end to his life by burning down his farm at Flugum‡ri but he was clever and hid in a big barrel of sour whey while the less fortunate residents met their death in the fire.
Gissur is a sharp lord of sour ale. When you are fired up Gissur will cool you down and save you or slave you, depending on his mood. He rises as a shining sour ale in the summertime and gives you the urge to knock back one more and even knock out a great poet.
Don’t burn out, be Gissur’s friend and swim in the light sour ale with a taste of peaches glowing in the summer. You won’t be sorry with Gissur at your side.

Tap @ Borefts. Pale blonde, cloudy. Lots of mango in the aroma and flavor. Just a touch of sourness. Well balanced, very fruity beer.

Draught @ 10th. BBF 2018 [ 10th Borefts Beer Festival 2018 ] @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. [ As Borg Gissur Nr. 56 ].Murky matt medium yellow colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, light wheat, moderate hoppy, citrus, lemon, sweet lemon, zesty, something like yeast - peach - vanilla. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a long duration, zesty, sweet lemon, citric, again something like yeast - peach - vanilla. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20180922] 7-3-7-3-15

Tap @ Borefts '18. Very hazy pale yellow with a small white head. Smells apricot, fruity, sweet, nice. Tastes sour, loads of apricot and peach, very fruity, love it. Medium body, nice carbo. 829418

Sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival, Day 2. Ugly very pale milky yellow color, no head. Smell and taste lightly sourish mixed with sweetish candy notes. Not sourish actually. It's more sweet, sweetish candy. Hard to describe but quite soft and not bad. Looks ugly but tastes fine.

Sampled from tap at Borefts 2018. Clear, pale golden with a white head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, slightly spicy and a little fruity aroma of lemon peel, rhubarb, some gooseberry and a touch of dill. Slightly sweet, moderately sour, slightly spicy and a bit fruity taste of grains, straw and some dill, followed by a short, moderately tart, slightly grassy and moderately spicy finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

Borefts 2018. Day 2. Sampled draft. Thank you for sharing! Milky citrus. Nose is tropical fruit, passionfruit & mango milky (low). Dirty passionfruit taste, interesting milky, dirty milky, dirty filthy passionfruit, odd. Very oily juice body.

Draft at Borefts Beer Festival ‘18. Fairly hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of citrus, fruits and light green weedy hops. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
