Roasty. Comforting. Dry. Sessionable. For St. Patrick's Day 2021, we set out to brew an endlessly drinkable Irish Stout with malt complexity typically reserved for beers with much higher ABVs. An array of roasted and specialty grain is woven together to offer nuance and personality with each sip.

Presenting a deep black color with a fluffy, coffee-soaked head, our Irish Stout offers an intricate aroma with welcomed familiarity. Rich milk chocolate, dark roast coffee, toasted biscuit, and subtle caramel all make appearances throughout the glass. Roast-forward, with a welcomed, mildly bitter finish, this traditional offering is one that we're delighted to present to you.

Pours a nice near black from a can. Roasted malts, a hint of chocolate and coffee in the nose, slightly more present in the mouth but rather light. Good beer.

Delicious. Notes of milk chocolate, roast, dark berries, and coffee, with a firm java bitterness on the finish, along with a lingering but modest cocoa sweet streak. Layered and robust without going overboard. Great beer.

Pours mahogany tinged black into a nonic. Tan head with excellent retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Chocolate, espresso and toasted brown bread aromas. Medium bodied with licorice, soy and dark, charred chocolate front to back. Lasting espresso finish.

Murky black, beige head. Classic nose, malt and marzipan and nougat and some earth. Flavor has some smoke and toasted grains and some burnt caramel. Finishes just off dry. Easy drinker and good for the style. 7 4 7 4 13

Draught at Canton, 5/15/21.
Looks like an irish stout. Beige-flecked, off-white head is small, showing moderate retention. Opacity untested.
Dainty baker's cocoa in the nose with hints of vanilla and light plaster-like yeast character. Straightforward but good clarity and appropriately showcases the unroasted barley.
Chocolate/cacao character is strong and clear in the mouth with a silky, light-to-medium body with no alcohol, flaw or too much residual sweetness. Almost a nougat-vanilla character on the finish. Assertively flavored for its size.

Pours a dark, cola brown-black, with mid-sized head that dissipates rapidly. Aroma is coffee, roasted grain. Flavor is roasted grain, coffee, baker's chocolate, some leather. A fairly bitter stout, all in all. Could use a bit more complexity, perhaps?
