Bottle at the RBG Low Countries 2005 tasting session
Murky orange body with a creamy, off-white head and a good lace. Very lovely nose of flowers, cookies, fruits, ... The initial flavour is rather pour (lightly sweet and moderately bitter, but somewhat watery), but then the finish makes it all up (lightly sweet, moderately bitter, but very warm). The finish lasts long. Medium bodied.

Rating #1300!:
Hazy amber coloured body with a nice orange highlight. Large slightly off-white head that starts out real dense then fades to a nice cap which covers the beer the whole time I drink it. Aroma of the normal barnyard and grassyness that you’d expect from a belgie saison. A light fruityness grazes the scent and also a small tart funkyness. Light-bodied; Tart grassyness along with some large herbal qualities. Strong tart finish showing some malt, no hops and a small amount of spices such as coriander seed and even some cloves. Overall, a nice treat-definitely a rare one! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on Thanksgiving Thursday 25-November-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I had this under the wrong beer rating until 29-December-2004.

Murky orange-brown body, medium off-white head pouring from a corkless bottle (cheap bastards!). Rich cinnamon apple and toffee aroma. Surprisingly delicate flavor with caramel and toast mingling with cinnamon apples and orange peel. Toasty, bitter finish. Very balanced in the sweet/dry department. As it warms the beer becomes more delicate. Like most Fantomes, maddeningly promising but falls short of being great. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with settling for "merely good."

Light amber colour. Cloudy. Aroma shows a little lactic acid, lemon, passion fruit and grapefruit. Very yeasty body. Slightly dry and bready. Where were those citrus notes I was promised? Not bad, but not Dany’s best.

AOBF 04. Bottle. Wow what a truly unique beer. I would have to say this one beats 04.04.04 for strangest beer at the fest. Pours a glassy yellow, pale gold mixed with amber/rusty orange. Very cloudy, obviously bottle conditioned. Mountains of dusty-white head and of course mounds of lacing. I like Harlequinns estimation of "dead flowers" on the nose. It seemed like a mix of that and a ton of spices which are mentioned in many of the other reviews. Heavily dry. Not cheesy, but more grassy, wet hay, coriander, some spoiled green apples, dry, tart unripened peaches. Flavor is more of the same, very dry, spicy and hugely yeasty. Apples come to mind again. The peppery texture, and dry mouthfeel do abate some as it finishes, providing for a better, and ever so sweeter flavor of light malt, moderately acidic fruit and more yeast. Call me an idiot, but I wasnt sold on this one at all. Maybe I have too much of a sweet-tooth, but this was way too dry for my liking. Maybe they should dissolve some cheese in it. . .(just kidding).

Beautiful red colour, only slightly hazy; reddish tinted head, collapsing. Opening the bottle gives an explosion of fruity, funky flavours, but very volatile, leaving a gingery-fruity smell. Taste is smokey, tobacco flavours, cigarette ash - perpendicular on the nose impression. Some slight acidity, and -burn. Impressive for a 6% ABV beer. Alcohol/acidburn. Another great one from Dany P. How does he do it?

The aroma is sweet malty with notes of corriander. The color is an unclear dark orange-red and it has a fine off white head. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of corriander. The carbonation runs over the tongue before it ends on a dry hoppy note.
