Bottle from Dominik Ott, thanks! Dark brown colour, beige foam. Rather lively carbonation. Nose of chocolate, light roasted malts, some caremel sweetness. Interesting Dunkles Bier.

Swing top bottle. O yeah, it’s dunkel (dark)! Strong licorice aroma. Sweet and malty with grapes, peach and a licorice bite. Some caramelly bitterness. A bit too sweet maybe, but a very nice beer.

Vom Faß („Mühlenbräu Dunkel“) in der Mühlenbräu. - Tiefes Mahagoni, fast klar. - In der Nase kerniges Dunkelmalz, Toast und Karamel, geröstete Haselnüsse sowie milde fruchtig-hefige Noten, ein klein wenig unreif. - Antrunk etwas brausig und wenig malzaromatisch. Die säuerliche Note ist zwar noch nicht störend aber etwas zu deutlich. Wird die überschüssige Kohlensäure herausgeschüttelt, kommen kräftigere Dunkelmalzaromen mit angenehmer Kaffeebittere zum Tragen. Im Abgang gute Malzbittere, schwach seifige Noten und milde fränkische Hopfennoten. - Etwas dünnes, unrundes Dunkles. Für ein fränkisches Bier recht schwach - schade, daß dieser gepflegte Gasthof zu seiner guten Küche keine besseren Biere anbietet.

Aroma is malty, notes of caramel. Flavor is also malty, light roasty, caramel and a light butter.

Kupferbraunes Bier mit einer geringen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch nussig, röstmalzig. Geschmack leicht röstmalzig, nussig, schokoladig, gut!

Röstig-trockener Antrunk, minimalst würzig. Keine Entwicklung der Aromen, röstig (wenn auch milder) bleibend, minimalst säuerlich. Zum Ende hopfiger, wenn auch nur minimal. Etwas bitter. 11/8/7/7//7

Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Fairly bright chestnut with a thick head. The aroma is fun - spicy hop, toffeeish brown sugary malts and some minor rustic yeast notes. The palate has a slight wateriness but also toffeeish malts. A little diacetyl slickness on the tongue but you don’t really taste it. Finishes light with more fairly clean dark malt character.

Bottle, 4.8%. Slightly roasted aroma, quite mild. Clear dark brown colour. Big stable tan head. The flavour starts off roasted, turning slightly bready, dark bread. Seems to have a little sourness to the flavour as well. Roasted nut flavour. Has some citric notes as well, which I do not like much.
