Our German style dunkel is brewed with European Munich and Cara Munich malts along with a touch of chocolate and rye malt using a traditional step infusion mash. It is gently hopped using German Tettnang and Spalt Select. After the boil it rests in our copper coolship for 1 hour and is then transferred over our baudelot cooler.

Pour is a clear amber with a large tan head. Aroma is some roasted nuts with brown sugar. Flavor is more roasted nuts with some caramel and a pop of bitterness. Finish is dryer than expected. Good simple dunkel.

16 oz. can. Deep brown in color. Aroma, chocolate, mild roast, and toffee. Flavor has a good amount of chocolate with the aforementioned toffee with a earthy grain finish. Decent. But it is not knocking my socks off.

Can from Tavour. Pours rather mahogany with a transient tan head. Aroma is darkish toffee with some floral notes. Med body. It's malty, but dryish. Nicely bitter. Flavor is that Tmavy thing with a bit of floral/spice for bitter. Quite nice.

Can, I guess they're not even putting the can date on top of the four-pack holder anymore? Pretty ridiculous....Anyways, it's a fresh enough can, drunk 12/16/22. Clear, milk chocolate with rust and iron. Small, dark beige head showing moderate-to-low retention. Lots of chocolate to the point that it smells as if cacao nibs were added, so that's kind of cool. Freshly baked pumpernickel, tons of fresh yeast and mineral with low, but still apparent, herbal hops. Lots of base malt mixing with the specialty malt to give the sweet chocolate. Clean, no alcohol noted. On the sweeter side, I suppose, though it does have some interesting chocolate and dry grains, as well as mildly bitter herbal hop character. But yeah, lots and lots of milk chocolate, honey, fudge, etc...Kind of a shame its too sweet since it's so clean and flavorful. It's not cloying or anything, not even close, but as far as the best dunkels go, yeah, just not as much attenuation as it needs. Leaves the finish a bit sluggish and muddled with too much chocolate.
