Historical tick which I am adding as a rate so that I can see the impact it has on my stats. 500 Beers To Try Before You Die. Although not the Woodforde one so somehow different?

Recommended by Rauchbier. Dark brown color, just a bit cloudy. Only very slight, but steady head. Malty aroma, vinous, grape juice. Thick and a bit oily. Sweet flavor with some strawberry and vinegat sourness. Malty with just a hint of coffee and smokiness. Definitely a complex beer, with every sip you discover more flavors: mandarin, lychee, mustard. Very interesting beer, well worth looking for. Probably needs a re-rate to fully appreciate it.

Bottle as M&S Norfolk Nip. It pours darkest brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is rich, unctuous, oily, toffee, wood, light vanilla, dried fruits, varnish, honey cake, toasted brown sugar and figgy pudding. The taste is smooth, rich, oily, wood, toffee, dried fruits, light alcohol warmth, leather, varnish and chewy malt with a dry, woody finish. Medium - full body, low carbonation and oily mouth - feel. A touch flat perhaps. Doesn’t taste as good as the regular or certainly last time I had the regular.

Bottle (#1430/4800) thanks to Leighton. It pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is wood, treacle, dark fruit, raisin, plum, berry, port, light roast and cocoa. The taste is roasted malt, toast, earth, plum, red grape, date, treacle, vinous notes and wood. Full body and fine carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden. Good level of complexity and balance. I can’t help but like this. Well done Woodfordes!
