Dark brown color. Somewhat toasty caramel aroma. Medium bodied, but a bit watery texture. Careamel and glue, some licorice. OK, but nothing more.

[cask at Reading Beer Festival] Pale for a mild, looks more like a dark best bitter. Tastes like it too - fruity, with a dusty bitter afteratste. Disappointing.

Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate. Ruby colour with thin beige head. Brambly blackberry with lots of smoky dark malts. Really quite intense for a dark mild. Lots of chewy coal dust.

Cask at GBBF 2006, CBoB entry cask. A dark brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted with light notes of soy sauce and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with light roasted notes on a good chocolaty back ground, but also with light notes of raisins. But the body is thin. A good mild.

Cask at Merton Beer Festival July 7th, 8th 2006. I’m getting to quite like this brewery having had the mightily impressive Flatbac at Banbury Beer Festival. Whilst not quite hitting the heady heights of its stablemate was nonetheless a great little mild. A very dark brown colour to this mild and I agree with Glenn it did have a smokiness to it. More body than many other milds and with chocolate drifting and floating around ever present. very good.
