The DIPA is filled with extra pale malt, heaps of naked oats and generous dose of wheat and has come out pillowy soft. Our house yeast has moved its way through those sugars and left behind loads of lovely fruity esters. Simply Hops have provided us with Australia’s latest hop offering, Eclipse, lacing the beer with loads of sweet and pulpy orange marmalade, bright citrus zest and prickly pine needles.

Can shared at Ganz, courtesy of Laci. Pours hazy, murky golden with a white head. Nose is mango, strawberry and melon. Taste is light citrus zest, strawberry, mango and stone fruits. Closes with a long lasting, moderately bitter finish, has a rich, creamy body and soft carbonation.

Mild smell of citrus. Hazy amber colour, white head. Aroma of overripe citrus, some spruce. Sweet, lightly bitter. Medium carbon. Quite boozy.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, small pale cream colour head. On first crack of the can, the nose was stunning - candy fruits with Parma violets and pine. Once poured, that largely evaporated unfortunately. Slightly thin feeling palate but not annoyingly so and I have a low tolerance for a thin palate. Spicy hop intro from the Aussie Eclipse hops. Touch of hop burn, purdy mild. Smooth pine. Juicy mandarin and a little soft grapefruit. Light pine runs throughout. Crisp finish. I don't think Eclipse hops are a game changer because they don't bring anything that isn't available in other hops, but the bright spicy citrus is pleasing and well delivered here.

Can sourced from Ales and Brews and drunk at home - hazy orange with a white head. 2nd time trying this new “eclipse” hop and again delivers a hefty hit of tangy orange goodness, tangerine and tangelo fleshy pulp with some nice zesty citrus peel, oat and wheat laden soft substantial mouthfeel and body, piney solid hoppy finish. Lovely. --- Beer merged from original tick of X Mad Scientist Eclipse DIPA on 26 Mar 2025 at 12:06 - Score: 8.
