A bold West Coaster, this is the little sibling of our Crystallography series, with all the hop burst and clean finish but in a lighter and crisper body. This edition is hopped with Columbus and Strata for full-on dankness, with deep grapefruit and tropical flavours and pine resin on the finish.

440ml can from Simply Local: BB 16th July 2024. Drank on 23rd March 2024 just after England lost 1-0 to Brazil (watched on TV at home). Clean and clear pale golden body, white crust, looks like a lager, especially as the head fades so swiftly! Dank fruity hop front with grapefruit to the fore. It's fine, I'm just in a bad mood after both Grimsby and England lost today.

Can at home picked up from Cloudwater online. A mostly clear mid golden orange coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is nice sticky weed, pine sap, bark, some dank. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, biscuity malts, weed, dank hop, pine, firm bitterness. Palate is semi sweet, light resin, moderate carbonation.

440ml can. Clear golden, white head. Aroma of orange, malts, resin. Taste of orange, grapefruit, resin, malts, light hop bitterness. Yeah, as others have said it feels a little lacklustre for CW. Obviously a big step down from the Crystallography TIPAs but it feels like they dialled it back a bit *too* much.

Can next door, picked up from HOTM online, 27/08/23. Clear pale golden yellow with a good sized lasting white head. Nose is pale malts, grass, citric tinged straw, lemon rind, toasted grains, just a hint vegetal. Taste comprises orange zest, light pine needle, grapefruit, toasted malts, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with leafy come lightly resinous hop bitterness. Okay IPA but expected more from CW on a WC affair.

Can. Beer Stop Dronfield. Just about clear medium gold. Fairly open lasting white foam. Has some glue-y malts. Ripe orange. Some resinous notes. Taste is fairly dry and lightly bitter. Clean, verging on thin mouthfeel. Moderate bitterness to finish. Smells good, but overall it’s just ok.
