"Himmel, welch ein Bier!" urteilte bereits Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts der Dichter Jean Paul über das köstliche, fränkische Braunbier. Ganz in dieser Tradition lassen wir das Schinner Braunbier mit feinem Aromahopfen und einheimischem Gerstenmalz brauen - kräftig und vollmundig im Trunk!

As Schinner Original Braunbier at 5.4% ABV. Clear chestnut brown, a two finger tall ivory-coloured head. Aroma: toast, pie crust, vinous, dried pear, prune. Well smelling. Light to medium body. Soft carbonation. Taste: similar to the aroma, mellow. Very little hops. Therefore bland ending. Pity. Could have been an outstanding dunkel.

Citrusaroma. A bit tart. Fairly complex taste with chocolate, citrus and some hopbitterness. Thinnish and a bit skunky aftertaste.

Pours brown from the bottle. The foamy beige crown soon fades. Nutty aroma with roasted grains and brown sugar. Quite nice actually. Taste is mildly bitter with mineral and fleeting metallic hints. Body is medium, carbonation prickly. Not bad overall.

Bottle at Detlef's. Pours clear dark copper with off-white head. Aroma of plums, dark dried fruits, dark bread, some chocolate and smoke. Tastes slightly sweet with balancing bitterness. Medium bodied, slightly bitter finish.

13th May 2017: Hamm Bierbörse. On-tap .3 litre pour. Clear brown pour, thin beige head. Malty throughout with some interesting aromas and flavours, slight singed/smokey notes intertwine with everything too, complex and different: liked it.

Vom Faß („Schinner Braunbier“) in den Schinner Braustuben, Bayreuth. - Schönes Rotbraun, üppiger beigefarbener Schaum. - In der Nase angenehmes Karamel, Toast, etwas Nuß. - Antrunk sehr angenehm nussig-malzig mit der gewissen Tiefe, die ein gutes Dunkles auszeichnet. Mildes dunkles Malz, leicht fruchtig-hopfig und zart säuerlich abgeschmeckt. Erfreulich wenig süß, daher auch als Essensbegleiter geeignet (es gab Saure Rindernierla: köstlich!). Mild, sahnig weich im Mund. Im Abgang schön hintergründiger Hopfen mit Anklängen an Moos und milder Bittere. - Schönes, tiefgründig dunkelmalziges, süffiges Bier, das nur wie so viele Dunkle zum Ende hin ein wenig nachläßt.

Bottle, danke Günther. Clear dark chestnut brown, offwhite lace. Light roast aroma. Chewy fruity roast base, broad caramel and berry notes, good roast and hop bitterness to balance. Moreish, quite drinkable.
