Brewed with Tomahawk and Simcoe hops. Viven Imperial IPA came from the westcoast of America but is brewed in Flemish style and gives a great result. It will make the beer lovers heart beat a bit faster. An adventure for your senses. Amber coloured with a thin off-white head, Viven Imperial IPA is a good hoppy beer with citrus accents. Fruity nose (peach and pink grapefruit) with floral flavours, recalls a forest (spruce) in the early morning. The hops are prominent. Viven Imperial IPA is pleasently bitter.

/12/12/12/8/12

A reddish maber IPA with a thcik brown head. In aroma, a doughy malt with white grapes, herbal hops, interesting. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt, biscuitty, herbaceous smooth hops, light alcohol, quite nice. On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, July 12 2011. 3.80 euros.

Pours hazy orange/amber with a large, creamy head.Nose shows lots of resinous, piney hops, citrus, orange blossom, grapefruit and some peach. Underneath is a fair whack of caramel and clean malt.Lots more resinous pine upon tasting, though the fruit doesn’t transfer through quite as well. Next comes a load of sweet clean malt before the hops return for a big, piney bitterness. Does have a medicinal/astringent herbal character to it, reminds me of the bittersweet character found in cough-syrup.Nice syrupy body, carbonation could be higher.

Bottle (bb 10/12!). Just hazy amber with an inch of light beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, nectarines and pine. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Taste has some sweetness with stone fruit. Slightly stale caramel malt flavours. Hop aromatics don’t show up as much in the taste as they did with a sniff. Dry and decently bitter finish, but there’s a dusty yeast note there that jars. US hops smell good but get rather lost.

0.33l bottle courtesy of and shared with ClubGonzo. Pours a cloudy near murky light brown/deep orange body with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma is grassy and fruity, sweet malts and some caramel with a little bit of yeast. Full-bodied, oily texture and average carbonation. Nice caramel flavors with malts, mild licorice and it's quite well hopped. Leaving a warming finish.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, amber to copper colour with a beige and tanned foamy head. Fruity and slightly piney hoppy aroma, also with flowery and spicy accents, accompanied by traces of cara-malt and delicately mouldy yeasty notes. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with dry-ish mouthfeel and a moderate carbonation. Shy cara-malt character with a cornucopia of hoppy flavours; bitter and quite dry lingering hoppy finish. Very pleasant. 14.VI.11

Deep red orange to dark amber coloured beer under very creamy yellowish head that is very stable and leaves nice lacing. Aroma: very fruity, typical tropical fruits but also sweet yellow fruits like peaches and mango. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, bit sweet, citrus fruits providing some acidity, turning pretty bitter in the end. Aftertaste: more fruitiness, alcohol in the back of the throat while hop takes over the palate: the tongue turning very dry. Maybe a touch medicinal as with most strong IPA's.

Bottle at CP&K. It pours dark amber, near ruby, with a thin off-white head. The nose is resin, wood, leather and farmyard. The taste is resin, wood, orange peel, more wood, wax, old leather boots, earth and smoke, with some astringency. The finish is dry and bitter. Decent balance and clean flavour.
