An imperial stout aged for 7 months in Four Roses and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, before being blended at the point of packaging. At the time of racking the beer, we picked out flavours of raisins, Christmas cake and malt loaf coming to the fore, along with hints of liquorice and a touch vanilla, leading to a mellow, gentle and creamy mouthfeel.

Bittle at craft beer junction bermondsey tasting. Many thanks. A clear reddy mahogany brown coloured pour with a halo of light tan head. Aroma is salty, light tart, liquorice meaty musty roast. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, oily, meaty roast, liquorice, salty, nutty roast. Palate is semi sweet, oily, harsh, soy.

Craft Beer Junction bottle share. Thanks to LKS for the bottle. Clear deep brown beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Light smooth palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, tangy chocolate, tangy coffee, a vague marmite vibe. Light and semi dry finish. Lacks richness and I don't like this marmite and tang.

Light black with a khaki cap that veers to the edge.
Nose is chocolate, toffee, dark malts, earthy roast.
Taste comprises earthy roast, chocolate, umami, dark malts.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
So so affair ... can hardly get any barrel ... trad brewery running a barrel program on the cheap me thinks.

Keg @ Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Black with an extremely thin off-white head. This is a very boozy effort as you might expect, but its barrel ageing is equal here, nevertheless it's naturally a slow sipper. Coconut exemplifies it's aftertaste.

On tap at Oliver Twist. Almost black with a small tan head. Sweetish, chocolate and mild warming notes.

375ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, April 23. Cheers Mark for this one. Unclear deep brown pour with a respectable off-white head. Bourbon sweetness on the nose. Prominent bourbon influence to taste with a deep malty element. Nice drinkability. Very decent.

17th April 2023; Shrewsbury Beer Exchange in Chez Sophie, five guys drinking and chatting with plenty of snacks. Cheers Mark for this 375cl bottle: BB 31st December 2026. No mention of which Bourbon barrels on the label, but a little research soon found the right beer. It's dark brown with a tanned topping. Very boozy with a heavy Bourbon flavour and aroma, sweet Plum Pudding with a Bourbon sauce sums it up nicely.
