Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty. In the mouth it is quite bitter, but with underlying fruity sweetness. Flavour has malts and traditional hops, along with a dollop of marmalade and hints of caramel. Finish is slightly bitter and spicy. This is decent – packs plenty of punch.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2022 - day 1. Pours clear gold with a slight, foamy white head. Lightly sweet with notes of pale grains, vague citrus, old hay. Light bodied, a bit soft. Finishes with more grainy pale mats, low bitterness, damp hay, orange. So so.

Handpull cask at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. Dark gold, clear with a thin off-white head and quite a lot of lacing. Pink grapefruit peel and some astringent notes in thearoma. Bittersweet taste with hoppy citrus bitterness rounding out the finish. Oily body, not a lot of carbonation. It's okay. A basic and capable pale.
