Bottle @ home. Clear, deep amber body under a thin, lacing tan head. A bit oily consistence. Strong in aroma, caramel malt, dry fruit and toast. Taste is super smooth, sweet malt, caramel, dry fruit, hint of wood, warming alcohol and mild bitterness. Fine body with long lasting, pleasant aftertaste. Original review text: Bottle. Almost clear, deep amber body under a fine beige head. Aroma of dark malt, dry fruit, caramel and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, dark chocolate, ash and warming alcohol. Fine body with decent aftertaste. Nice and tasty barleywine, a bit more on the chocolate side than dry fruit this one. Missing some complexity, but still very nice.

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours brown, a little on the people side, with limited light brown foam, fine. Aroma is malty and caramel, a little oxidated. Body is average, smooth, with close to no carbonation. Taste is medium sweet, fairly elegant. Final is average.

Bottle. A faintly hazy dark chestnut colored beer with a minimal sized beige head. The aroma is quite boozy, but in a nice way, feeling less vegetal than the non-barreled version. Toffee, dark bread, alcohol, raisin, some grassy and piney hints, with a touch of chocolate and cocoa, It's full-bodied and warming on the palate, softly carbonated, with a good dash of sweetness. Not cloying though. Toffee, dark bread, prunes and raisin, some cocoa, a touch of roasted malts and grassy, piney hops in the flavor. Lasting finish. Original review text: Bottle. It's a clear chestnut colored beer with a small off-white head. The aroma is a bit vegetal, with lots of toffee and generic dark dried fruit, some alcohol and caramel. Some nutty hints and pale malts too. It's full-bodied, lightly warming and pleasantly carbonated, with a light sweetness and a suitable bitterness. The flavor has toffee, dark dried fruits, dark chocolate, some roasted malts, alcohol, a spiced note and then a good dash of raisin. Feels quite alcoholic in the finish. Quite a lot of good things going on here, but a bit rough. 220202

0,33 flaske fra Bergen Storsenters julebutikk, delt med fhv. skibsreder, romjulsrating på Bjørnøy: lett uklar rødlig kobber med fint skum som varer. Saftig og silkemyk med deilige, sherryliknende inntrykk. Tørkede frukter, sviskeplommer og røde bær topper det hele. Mild bitterhet og varmende effekt. En løfterik forhåndsmarkering av 69-års dagen.
