Taster at Sierra Andina Taproom Miraflores, Lima. Lightly cloudy, copper colored. AROMA- insipid, touch of fruit, alcohol. FLAVOR- neutral, slightly bitter, warming, caramel, touch of fruit, alcohol. Medium bodied. Hardly average.

Very nice, crisp copper and deep bronze coloured body with a thinnish, off-white and deep tan head that fades pretty quickly, but leaves a nice thin lace on top. Aroma of deep malts, some lighter sugars with honey and resin noticeable, and a floral, grassy kick towards the end, but the rich malts and sugars seemingly battle through everything and leave a lot of pungency. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt notes dominate here with a lot of sweetness from stone fruits, honey and resin with a lot of bitterness here from the hops and even more of an astringent and pungent alcohol bite towards the end. Aftertaste shows a lot of flavours of just about everything, with a rich malt profile, some relatively strong alcohol and sugars, but a good pungency throughout that is nice for down here and enjoyable compared to other light/lagers here. I sampled this 33 cL bottle (blue front) purchased from Wong [grocery store] in CencoSud, San Isidro/Miraflores, Lima, Peru on 01-August-2022 for S./ 10,50 sampled on the streets of Lima, Peru with my wife and three kids on 02-August-2022.

12oz bottle I picked up in Lima pours a dark, muddy orange with some lacing, white head. Nose is heavy on the malt and orange peel, pine too, some raisin, potpourri. Flavor is sticky with chestnut honey, some brown sugar, malt, toffee, bitter orange peel, herbs, sticky spruce. Full bodied, bitter and even astringent on the finish.

Sierra Andina Pachacutec Imperial Ale 10.5% I got this beer from my buddy Beercation. Brewed in honor of an Inca Emperor, it is the strongest beer from Peru and Ratebeer classes it as an American Strong Beer. I'm kind of surprised it's from Huaraz a mountain town from which I went hiking and mountain biking in the Andes a decade ago. An odd brown color, it has a dense beige head that reminds me of a root beer. Malty sweet plum and cocoa powder aroma. It has velvety mouthfeel but a somewhat thin finish with some boozy heat. The taste is sweet, plum, raisins, a sharp almost burnt hardtack and cocoa nibs. It paired well with chocolate ice cream. It's not a truly complex beer but is definitely better than I expected Peru was currently brewing. Thanks for the hook up! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a murky brown with a thin tan head. Citrus nose. Flavors of herbs with some caramel notes. Very intriguing flavors. Unique and tasty.
