Just a light haze on this gold beer, small bubbly pale cream head. Palate is light and fairly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Creamy sweetness malts but somewhat thin on the mouthfeel. Mellow bourbon fruits with a nice light barrel induced vanilla. Aquavit is supposed to be neutral but as per those few occasions I've had Aquavit BA beers before, I get a light ripe and almost candyish fruity flavour Finishes light and semi dry. No heat whatsoever from this 13.9% beer. Either the alcohol is miscalculated or this is a dangerously quaffable beer. Nice blend of bourbon ba and Aquavit BA, just a tad thin and dry in the mouthfeel.

Bottled. It pours hazy amber with a greenish cast. No head at all. Very malty: corn flakes, porridge. Boozy, oily, long-lasting. Hints of orange after sipping. Deceitful, mind you: you might drink it as if it were 6 or 7% ABV, the stumble and fall when you leave your chair to go take a leak. Not that it happen to me, of course...

3 February 2019. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Many thanks to the guy at the brewer's stand for this surprise (and free) sample, as they had actually run out of beers... Clear golden with a lasting, thin, foamy, off-white head; little lacing. Aroma of ripe banana, apricot, yellow apple, white bread, honey, white rum, slightly mouldy peach, oak. Taste is medium to heavy fruity sweet, lots of overripe peach & banana, balanced by a medium spicy bitterness that has pepper, wood & apple peel, supported by a bready, vanilla-like (the bourbon, I presume) & honeyish malty base, but the (white) sugary character persists, with some white rum warming up the mouth already. Dryish, peppery hoppy finish, lingering honey, peach, sugar, and a firm dash of warming aquavit alcohol, that is so sharp & sugary it does lean towards that white rum again. Medium body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Subtlety probably isn't White Pony's strongest feat, and this is another example of a brew that balances dangerously between intense & crude. Essentially, I think that the bourbon (and its oak character) does not feature enough here, whilst the aquavit flirts too much with plain white rum. All in all, a far from standard 'Abbey Tripel', reminiscent of, say, Dolle Brouwer's overripe fruitiness.
