On tap at Walhalla brewpub, Amsterdam, Saturday 10th January 2026, after a treacherous walk from the Buiksloterweg boat mooring and then Lowlander and then Oedipus. Pours pitch black with a tan head, sticky but bloody marvellous, liquorice, sticky burnt toffee, thick in the mouth, there's a little creaminess but smokiness comes through albeit not huge. Lovely, beer of the weekend. Score 8.3

Blik 33cl thuis. Peaty, vanille, roasted malts, bitters, zoeten, rooksmaak, licht as, chocoladetonen, carameltonen. (18-2-2024).

Pours a black body and a brown head that quickly recedes. Aroma's: smoke, sweet, tar, leather, fruit. Retronasal: sweetish, fruity, smoked malts. Flavour is above moderate sweet, light roasted bitter. Quite full bodied. Finishes with ash, quite bitter. Very good!

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 9 Aug 2023) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black bread, liquorice, chocolate, smoke and a touch of bacon. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, espresso, dark chocolate, smoke, treacle and a generous roasty bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Rich and tasty, with a generous smoky touch. Very nice.

33cl Blik. Zwarte kleur, romige beige kraag. Flink wat turf, rook, caramel, gedroogd donker fruit, vijgen, gebrande mout, hint van tabak, chocolade, flink bitter. Vol en romig mondgevoel. Top.

Gedronken tijdens het Nederlands Speciaalbier Festival in den Bosch. DIep donkerbruin bier met matig schuim. Aroma van gebrand hout. De smaak is houtig en zoet. Nasmaak is zoet en bitter.

Geprobeerd met LiekevdV, Inoven, SandervdL en Roelzie op het Nederlands Speciaalbier Festival 2023 in den Bosch. Het is een diep donkerbruin tot zwart bier met een volle bruine schuimkraag. Het heeft een rokerige geur. De smaak is rokerig en zacht zoet.

Tap at Arendsnest, 19th April 2023. Pours black, rich and dark. Aroma is Smokey, meaty, rich and chocolate, coffee. Taste is outstanding, rich, smoke, meat, tobacco, dark chocolate, earthy, barbecue. A huge rich and bitter hoppy finish. Fantastic

Walhalla #100: 0.33 l can from 'Rebelbeercans', canned in January 2023. Black with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, quite smoky aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, nuts and bacon. Quite sweet, malty, fairly roasty, rather smoky and a little fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, bacon, nuts and some red berries, followed by a medium long, fairly roasty-bitter finish. Full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tasty Imperial Stout, fairly smoky but also heavily roasty and hoppy, very intense stuff.
