33 cl. can @ Pendergast, Amsterdam. Black with a beige head. Roasted malt aroma with citrus and pine. Sweet taste with a medium malt bitter finish. Black IPA's seem to become increasingly rare so it's nice to taste such an excellent example of the style.

Can drunk on a Tuesday, from Feb 2024. Dark black, nice tan head, dry and roasted goodness on the nose. A bit of citrus and some hop spiciness in there. Slightly less body than a heavy stout, but pretty hefty, maybe porter level. Hop power is a bit dank and citrusy, but a little subdued for a black IPA if I'm being honest. Nice smooth roast notes. I'd call it a west coast porter, tasty in that light though.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 14 Feb 2024) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with coffee, liquorice, pine needles, grapefruit and mint. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, pine needles, black coffee, liquorice, mint and a generous citric/piney bitterness. Medium body, dry. Tasty and well made black IPA, with a generous hop profile. Very nice.

33cl Blik van Sterk. Zwarte kleur, beige kraag. Tabak, grassig, hars, wat koffie, wat citrus, pure chocolade, bittere finish. Lichte body. Wederom een smaakvolle Walhalla-BIPA.

Their best example of the style so far. Cleaner and more roast sharpness and dryness. Sterk ams

Can picked up at DeBierkonig, Amsterdam, consumed at home, 24th Marsh 24. Pours a black ale. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa and citrus. Taste is bitter, roasted malts, aromatic, citrus and cocoa, floral, hop forward and well balanced roasty BIPA, from Walhalla, always great for the Cascadian Ale, I’ve have around 8 in this style from Walhalla and all are solid
