Pre GBBF tasting as Chris and Ruth’s. Almost opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy with good fine carbonation. Tangy brown malts. Nice but very mild dark chocolate. Bourbon biscuit. Little coffee, Light semi dry finish. Not bad.

Bottle at Chris & Ruth’s pre GBBF shindig; dark chestnut brown pour with a creamy light tan head, quite a boozy aroma with some deep roasts, taste has dark fruits, dark roast malts a hint of coffee.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 50 cl - Batch L13316M (BBF 12-2018). AROMA: medium-high malt notes with a dark chocolate character. followed by a medium-light dried grape-like notes. medium vinous aspect. APPEARANCE: very dark brown with ruby highlights. moderate head with brown color and medium retention. alcohol derived viscosity with leg formation. TASTE: medium-high malt flavor with a dark chocolate character. slight sweet background with medium-low Maillard compounds (roasted bread crust). faint esters with a dried fruits character (plums). medium-high bitterness with a roasted and slightly bitter finish. PALATE: full body with a velvety texture. smooth alcohol warmth. medium carbonation. OVERALL: an imperial stout with all the characteristics. nice and recommended.
