Tavour: pours darker brown with beige head. Aroma is slightly smokey, some dark fruitiness, toasty malts. Taste is smokey and a little sweet. Light bitterness. Not bad.

Light roast. Pretty crisp. Pours dark brown with decent head and lacing. Easy drinking, decent for style. Can shared at DC Beer tasting.

Pour is a near black with a large mocha tan head. Aroma is sweet molasses and some caramel malt. Flavor is more caramel malt with a minor roast. Finish is a bit sweeter than I would have liked. Decent but not the best of its kind. A little too much sweetness and not enough roasted malt.

Aromas are dark malt, roast, tree bark. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, loses the bark, very slightly more sweet than bitter or carbonic tang. Add a touch of cocoa. Very good drinking beer.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated January 31, 2025.
Aroma is malt forward with lots of toasted bread, caramel, toffee and hints of chocolate, roast and nuts. Light notes of prune, raisin, and dried cherries. Hints of herbal, woody hops and alcohol.
Pours dark brown, almost black with a medium large, thick, pillowy, light mocha head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and faint legs.
Flavor is somewhat sweet with lots of toasted bread, caramel and toffee. Lighter chocolate with hints of roast and nuts. Medium bitterness and faint alcohol notes. Notes of raisin, prune, dried cherries and dried berries. Light herbal, woody hop notes.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a solid dark lager. Really nice malt notes that have great complexity between the fruit, the toasted notes, the caramel and the chocolate. A bit more bitter than I was expecting but it works.

16 oz can from the Untappd Wild Year in Beer box. Aroma has notes of toasted marshmallow, bread. Pours nearly black with a one finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is lightly sweet and roasty with some light herbal hop bitterness around the edges. Excellent. Probably the best example of this style I’ve had.
