We played around with our malt bill, adding Crystal & Munich to the grist to create a beautiful, deep red hue and slight biscuity sweetness, and paired it with a classic American Hop bill of Simcoe, Idaho 7 & Centennial. Notes of cinder toffee and dark caramel giving way to big hits of bitter orange and grapefruit peel.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Elusive online. Pours a fetching clear copper-red with a frothy, off-white topping. Light to medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted grains, pine, semi-ripe citrus, orange rind, spicy grains. Medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Very nicely balanced finish, more toasted grains, rich malty character, pine, citrus rind, earth, leaves, a slight minerality. Highly drinkable overall. Super solid.

Can ordered from Elusive. Aroma combines sweet fruit and spicy grains for a marmalade impact. Slightly opaque amber. Thick frothy foamy off-white head. Big bitter and spicy flavour. Resinous. Peppery. Grainy. Underlying jammy fruit is restrained. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Feisty American Red... it's plotting.

440ml can. Pours clear reddy amber with a big beige head. Aroma of caramel/toffee, pine, citrus peel. Taste follows suit with caramel and toffee malts, biscuit, big bitter pine and citrus peel, the bitterness is assertive and lingers. That's a beautiful Red IPA undoubtedly one of the best I've had.
