The idea behind this unique collaboration was to brew a filtered, strong, top-fermented beer. This wonderful specialty is the combination of two brewing philosophies - this seems crystal-clear when you take a look at the raw materials: Hops from Belgium, from the immediate area around St. Bernardus, Weihenstephan yeast, Bavarian malt - and water from Freising. The beer is of course brewed in accordance with the Purity Law of 1516. Spicy, with a characteristic yeast note, fruity and strong with 6.5% alcohol: Braupakt 2024 flatters the palate with these characteristics.

330ml bottle. Crystal clear, yellow-ish, golden colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, moderately to mostly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally bready, wheaty malty and yeasty fruity, slightly yeasty spicy aroma, hints of banana and papaya, some clove, whiffs of vanilla. Taste is floral hoppy, yeasty fruity and slightly yeasty spicy, wheaty malty basis with some residual sweetness, hints of banana, chamomile, some clove. Oily texture, smooth and soft, silky palate, medium to fine, dense, soft, creamy carbonation. Well crafted, clean and focussed, not overly complex - decent. Would be interesting to have an unfiltered version as well.

330ml bottle from Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear golden colour with a big lasting frothy white head and lots of champagne bubbles. The aroma is Belgian yeast and toffee. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a crisp, dry, toffee, gluey, spicy yeast, light herbal, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation.

40cl on tap at Purtse Tap Room Telliskivi, Tallinn. Pors clear golden with a white head. Fruity aroma with notes of bananas and Belgian yeast, some spicy notes as well and hints of wheat. Medium to moderate sweet with medium flavour intensity and ditto bitterness. Feels like a strange hybrid between golden Belgian ale and German weissbier. Peculiar, but quite drinkable.

Clear golden. Aroma is cheesecake coriander light cream and toast. Taste is light sweet with bitter yeast spices. Fine bubbled carbonation. Ok but not too exciting.

Pour is a clear gold with a large white head. Aroma is a very fruity yeast ester with some neutral malt. Flavor is pretty much the same. A nice creamy yeast ester with grainy malt and a little spicy bitter hop on the back end. This was really a nice golden ale. A mix of a hellas and saison.

Bottle at Weihenstephan, Freising sat outside in the Biergarten, Saturday 25th May. Pours gold, good clarity, mid sized white head, a little bit of bitterness, light spicy edge. Soft mouthfeel, a little malty, simple but well executed beer, nothing grand or OTT but very decent. Like this.
