In Iceland, winter is not something we fear, it is something we embrace. Especially when it signals the return of our extremely-limited Winter Ale, ready to be shared around a plentiful table or a roaring fire. Brewed with hand-cut and cured spruce tips along with smoked Icelandic barley, this is the perfect brew to complement your sagas of conquest and survival.

Bottle. deep ruby red with a hint chill haze, low offwhite head. Honeyish sweet aroma, berries, resin, caramel roast. Medium full body, salt caramel base, strawberries, melanoidin, peat, pine/resin notes, flowery finish.

pours amber brown with a small dense head. It smells of smoky, caramel malt. The flavor is quite sweet with mild but apparent smoke and lots of caramel. Pretty good.

Spruce, caramel malt, and raspberry aroma. Dark chestnut brown with giant tan head. Moderately sweet caramel malt, and mildly bitter spruce and hay flavor. Good body. Smooth - hides its strength well.

Can. Pours clear chestnut, large beige head, dissipates to a ring with some lacing. Aroma is herbal, spruce, toffee, dark bready malt, dust. Minimal smoke, unfortunately. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body. Quite interesting.

Pretty darn tasty, full of toffee, caramel apple, and cocoa, with undertones of berry and spruce, finished off by a mild woody bitterness and a hint of smoke. No nutmeg, no cinnamon…nice.

Gelukkig niet rokerig, wel wat weg van whiskey. Lekker stevig maar niet te zwaar winterbiertje.

Can at the DC post-Thanksgiving 2021 gathering. Poured a medium brown color, opaque. Aroma was light sweet malts, barley, light toffee. Not generally a fan of these kinds of beers, but maybe the cold temps I was drinking this in worked in it's favor.

12oz can pours a malty brown, no head. Nose has malt and cranberry and soap. Flavor has brown sugary and cranberry and malt, some herbs. Finishes a bit flabby.
